My Ketogenic Diet and Lifestyle Journey

The first time I heard about the ketogenic diet was from my mom who knows that I love eating food that tastes good. So you can imagine that until now, when following different diets, the journey was not fun for me. And I think many of you can relate to this: following diets for only 2-3 days and then giving up.

 

I should begin with mentioning my goal. My goal is to get fit, get healthy and get rid of my muffin top. So you would say that this is not that hard....but the less kilos you have to lose the harder it gets.

 

Hearing about the ketogenic diet starting with lots of reading and recipe searching. One of my first recipes I believe was meatballs made with bacon, cheddar and konjac flour (recipe here: https://www.sublime-metier.com/single-post/Bacon-Cheddar)

 

This was the moment when I started loving cooking and I must say this is such an importing part of the ketogenic diet, because you need to cook your food, you need to be prepared because as long as you have something healthy in your fridge you are safe, you will not be eating take out.

 

Basically when you start the ketogenic diet you will eat no carbs, but eat protein with vegetables and healthy fats. Because you will not be consuming bad carbs (bread, pasta, sugar, cereals, white flour) the fat (for example the fat from bacon) will not do you harm. This will probably start a controversy because many say that fat is bad, and yes, fat is bad if you also eat it along with bad carbs and sugar.

 

The advantages of a ketogenic diet are:

 

1. It is a very efficient diet for weight loss

2. It kills your appetite.

3. You feel more energic

4. You don`t lose your muscle

7. It lowers the bad cholesterol

8. Increases testosterone.

9. Reduced Blood Sugar and Insulin Levels, with a Major Improvement in Type 2 Diabetes

 

Of course that not eating sugar and carbs will be hard at first, but if you keep focus and want to be healthy and full of energy, you will give this a try. I still find it difficult when I am eating out. I hardly resist the temptation of not ordering a pizza or french fries. But I noticed that if I do eat bad, the next day I don`t have an appetite at all. The body is basically showing me that I did wrong by eating bad.

 

I found inspiration reading Dr. Berg`s website and listening to his YouTube channel. He is such an amazing person and he explains very well how the ketogenic diet works in every aspect. For your reference please check below links:

I started following the ketogenic diet two months ago and I did struggle at times with going back eating the wrong food. This struggle is because I like eating potato chips, fries, pizza and sugar and I find it difficult to keep healthy when someone else near me is eating sugar candy or different carb foods. The good thing is that I do see a big difference in the way that I feel. I have more energy by eating ketogenic and I don`t feel that hungry anymore. If I do treat myself with a cheat day, the next day is easy to get back on track.

 

Looking up to the advantages of this lifestyle and the results that I got in two months, I can say that this is the correct way of getting healthy and fit. Please look up the reference for the full information about the ketogenic diet.

Prima oara am auzit despre dieta ketogenica de la mama mea care stie cat de mult imi place mancarea delicioasa. Astfel ca de cele mai multe ori cand incercam sa tin o anumita dieta, ma frustra foarte tare lipsa gustului bun la mancare. Cred ca multi se regasesc in asta si in faptul ca dupa 2-3 zile de dieta renuntam. 

 

Scopul meu este de a slabi cateva kilograme, sa ma tonifiez si sa obtin un abdoment plat. Insa doresc sa fac acest lucru intr-un mod cat mai sanatos si sa adopt un stil de viata bun.

 

Am inceput sa studiez dieta ketogenica si sa caut retete. Spre uimirea mea, toate retetele arata foarte delicios si gama de ingrediente permise este imensa. Una din primele mele retete ketogenice a fost o reteta pentru chiftele din bacon cu cascaval cheddar si faina de konjac (reteta aici: https://www.sublime-metier.com/single-post/Bacon-Cheddar)

 

Acesta a fost momentul in care mi-am dat seama ca imi place sa gatesc si mi-am dat seama ca este foarte important sa iti faci timp pentru a gati. Atunci cand ai mancare gatita in frigider este mult mai usor sa rezisti tentatiei de a manca ceva comandat spre exemplu fast food.

 

Atunci cand adopti un stil de viata ketogenic (prefer sa nu ii spun dieta), eviti sa mananci carbohidrati, si sa incepi sa mananci proteina cu legume si grasimi sanatoase. Pentru ca nu mai consumi carbohidrati (paine, patiserie, zahar, faina alba, orez, cereale) grasimea (din bacon de exemplu) nu iti face rau. Acest concept probabil o sa starneasca controverse pentru ca multi spun ca aceasta grasime este rea pentru organism, si da, este rea atunci cand o mananci impreuna cu carbohidrati si zahar.

1. Este una dintre cele mai eficiente diete pentru slabire si sporturi de anduranta (dar poate fi folosita si pentru cresterea in masa musculara), maximizand acele procese metabolice responsabile cu arderea grasimilor.

2. Reduce apetitul.

3. Mareste energia psihica si fizica.

4. Pastreaza masa musculara- in combinatie cu un antrenament inteligent.

5. Paradoxal, este mai ieftin de tinut decat alte tipuri de dieta.

6. Este usor de tinut, atat timp cat esti motivat si respecti regulile.

7. Scade colesterolul “rau” si total.

8. Creste testosteronul.

9. Creste nivelul hormonului de crestere (somatotropin sau HGH)

10. Reduce glicemia si insulina din organism

 

La inceput poate fi dificil sa elimini toti carbohidratii rai si zaharul din alimentatie, insa daca ramai concentrat pe obiectivul tau de a fi sanatos si energic, cu siguranta vei reusi. Si eu intampin inca dificultati in special atunci cand ies in oras cu prietenii. Poate fi dificil sa rezisti tentatiei de a comanda ceva ce contine carbohidrati cum ar fi o delicioasa pizza. Insa am descoperit ca daca mananc intr-o zi clasicii carbohirati, a doua zi nu am pofta de mancare. Cumva organismul se resimte si ma atentioneaza.

 

Mi-am gasit inspiratia si informatiile de pe site-ul lui Dr. Berg, dar si de pe canalul lui de youtube. Dr. Berg este un doctor care explica extraordinar de bine efectele acestei diete si beneficiile pe care le avem daca urmam acest stil oferind multe ponturi.

Am inceput sa urmez dieta ketogenica acum doua luni, timp in care am avut momente in care mi-a fost greu sa rezist tentatiei de a reveni la mancarea "obisnuita". Pentru ca sunt o pofticioasa, inca imi este greu atunci cand cineva langa mine mananca dulciuri sau carbohidrati. Desi stiu ca sanatatea este cea mai importanta si ca retetele ketogenice sunt delicioase, tot as manca o portie de cartofi prajiti sau o felie de pizza autentica.

 

In aceste doua luni in care am tinut dieta ketogenica, am observat ca ma simt mult mai energica, dupa masa de pranz senzatia de oboseala este absenta, iar pofta de mancare s-a mai diminuat. Pentru informatii complete despre dieta ketogenica intrati pe referintele de mai sus.
