My favorite Butters: Ghee and Coconut

Today I want to talk about two types of butter that I really like. Most of you have heard about the coconut butter, but the Ghee butter is rather a new thing.

 

Ghee basically means that the milk fat is rendered from the butter in order to separate the milk solids and water. It is made by melting unsalty butter and skimming the fat off of the top. The remaining yellow liquid will change its consistency when it cools down looking more like a creamy solid .

This butter has many benefits and really tastes good as long as you like greasy taste.

This is also easy to make at home, although it takes time to do it and you need to be careful not to burn it. Ghee has a number of benefits, the most important are:

What I like the most about this butter is that it has the most higher smoking point - which is great since you can cook it without worrying that it might do you harm. Coconut oil is also recommended to use in this sense, but the smocking point is lower.

Between the two butters, I like more the ghee butter because it has a sweet flavor. Ghee can also be used when making smoothies, or you can just take a teaspoon of this butter. It has a sweet, creamy taste. I really like to eat it like this and I just started adding it in my coffee. One big mug with a lid,, a teaspoon of ghee and shake it well! So yumy!

 

Having these benefits, you can easily switch from sunflower, olive oil to coconut or ghee oil when cooking. It is true that it gives the food a different flavor, I have tried cooking chicken or pumpkin with a tablespoon of coconut butter and noticed a different taste, different, but good.

Acum cateva luni am incercat untul ghee. Acesta este un unt mai putin cunoscut fata de untul de cocos despre care multa lume deja stie.

 

Unul ghee este un unt limpede, clarificat, originar din India antica. Se poate face si acasa, incalzit pana ce partile solide din lapte ajung pe fundul tigaii, apoi lichidul limpede este strecurat, iar partile solide sunt indepartate. Pentru a face unt ghee acasa este nevoie de timp si de multa atentie pentru ca se poate arde destul de usor.

 

Voi enumera cele mai importante beneficii ale untului ghee, insa pentru mai multe detalii intrati pe linkul din sursa:

 Ceea ce mi-a starnit interesul este faptul ca unul ghee poate suporta temperaturi mai ridicate fara sa se arda datorita absentei partilor solide din lapte. Acest aspect este foarte important, intrucat untul ars poate sa iti faca mai mult rau decat bine. La fel de recomandat este si untul de cocos, desi acesta are punctul de ardere mai mic fata de cel al untului ghee.

 

Untul de cocos contine atat uleiuri naturale cat si fibra din nuca de cocos. Mai jos veti gasi pe scurt cele mai importante beneficii:

  • este usor de digerat

  • este antibacterial si antifungic

  • ajuta la slabire

  • reduce nivelul de colesterol rau

  • previne aparitia bolilor de inima

 

Intre cele doua tipuri de unt, cel mai mult imi place untul ghee pentru ca are un gust dulce. Acesta poate fi folosit in smothiuri sau il poti consuma simplu cate o lingurita pe zi. Are un gust dulce cremos. De curand am inceput sa adaug o lingurita de ghee in cafea. Ai nevoie de un borcan in care sa pui cafeaua, o lingurita de ghee dupa care borcanul trebuie agitat bine. Foarte delicios!

 

Avand atatea beneficii, este usor sa inlocuiesti uleiul de floarea soarelui sau de masline cu cel de cocos si ghee atunci cand gatesti. Este adevarat faptul ca mancarea prinde un gust diferit. Am gatit pui si dovleac cu o lingura de unt de cocos, iar gustul mancarii a fost diferit insa delicios.
